The Center at Sierra Health Foundation (The Center) and the State of California’s Office of Youth and Community Restoration (OYCR) are pleased to announce a groundbreaking statewide technical assistance effort and funding opportunity. The Ending Girls’ Incarceration in California Action Network (“the Network”) Request for Applications (RFA) aims to reduce, and ultimately eliminate the incarceration of girls in the state of California. If your community-based organization (CBO) works in one of the following four counties—Imperial, Los Angeles, Sacramento or San Diego—and meets additional criteria, you may be eligible to join our California cohort.
The Project
In the first year of the Network, the four participating counties identified gaps and needs for alternative responses oriented toward healthy youth development and improved generational life-course outcomes for girls and gender-expansive youth. These counties are setting in motion multi-year plans to end girls’ incarceration. Eligible CBOs in each of the four counties can apply to receive funding to support the implementation of diversion programs.
Eligibility Criteria and Funding Details
The Center is contracted to support the RFA development, manage the grantmaking process and oversee the Ending Girls’ Incarceration initiative. This funding opportunity will provide $4,000,000 in funding—up to $1,000,000 for each of the four selected counties over two years—for CBOs proposing to implement programming identified by their respective counties to immediately reduce girls’ incarceration. At least one, and up to three, CBOs will be awarded per eligible county.
- Imperial County
