The Fresno Center

A community partner of the Stop the Hate program

The Fresno foundation at the Love & Thai grand openingAs a Stop the Hate partner, The Fresno Center has worked to foster belonging, celebrate diversity and create safer, more inclusive communities throughout Fresno County.

Through educational workshops, cultural celebrations, advocacy initiatives and community engagement, the organization has brought together thousands of residents to promote understanding across cultures and identities.

Signature efforts such as Embrace Diversity Day created opportunities for residents to learn from one another, build connections and stand against hate. The Fresno Center also worked with local leaders and partners to secure official proclamations recognizing Hmong American Day and LGBTQ+ Pride Month, support a Stop the Hate Resolution by the City of Fresno and stand with Love and Thai after the business experienced racial comments and threats.

The organization also responded directly to incidents of bias and discrimination, including a cyberbullying case within Sanger Unified School District. This case involved a child with special needs who was also AAPI, thus highlighting multiple areas of oppression and stigma in the community. By working with students, families and community stakeholders, The Fresno Center helped raise awareness, advocate for affected individuals and promote dialogue around respect for the differing needs of children and accountability to our communities.
