Asian American Liberation Network (AALN) helped transform United Against Hate Week into a visible expression of solidarity in Sacramento.
In partnership with ACC Senior Services, Hmong Innovating Politics and the Buddhist Church of Sacramento, AALN co-hosted Together We Rise, United Against Hate, a major community event that served more than 200 people through multicultural performances, resource navigation, interactive art, food vendors and free community resources.
The event connected residents with local anti-hate services and drew support from local and state leaders who listened to community concerns. Survey results showed that participants left with greater awareness of resources and a stronger sense of hope, reassurance and safety. AALN also used its organizing capacity to advance immigrant justice and anti-discrimination protections. Through coalition-building, public comment mobilization, media engagement and policy advocacy, the organization helped push forward local protections for immigrant and refugee communities facing xenophobia and discriminatory targeting.
