Through Stop the Hate, Empowering Marginalized Asian Communities (EMAC), in collaboration with the 209 Asian Pacific Islander Coalition, created a multilingual online reporting tool to help community members report hate incidents and connect with supportive resources.
The tool expanded access to reporting options for Stockton residents, particularly those who may face language, cultural or other barriers to seeking help.
Hosted on the 209 Asian Pacific Islander Coalition website, the reporting tool was translated into 10 languages: English, Cambodian, Hindi, Hmong, Lao, Punjabi, Spanish, Tagalog, Urdu and Vietnamese. The platform provided a user-friendly, community-based alternative for individuals who were more comfortable seeking support outside of traditional reporting systems.
By increasing access to information and resources, EMAC helped strengthen community safety and ensure more residents could respond to discrimination and hate incidents in a way that felt accessible and culturally responsive. The initiative demonstrates how language access and trusted community-led solutions can help remove barriers to support while empowering individuals to take action when harm occurs.
